c4 bellhousing

in the tech section it says that if ur using a c4 tranny that u should use the 157 tooth bellhousing. is that just for a tighter fit? can the 164 tooth be used? im wondering since i have everything to use the 164 tooth and would save a good chunk off money by not having to switch to 157. thanks guys.
 
I am actually using the 164T on the one I am building now, doesn't look like I could use the tri-y headers I used on the last build though... well without a little bending of the tubes and maybe some frame notching by the starter..... I am running stock exhaust manifolds from a 70'ish car I think they may have been from a maverick. Other than that problem everything else fit perfectly.

cool, im using the explorer exhaust that came with my block, hopefully i wont run into any issues.
 
I often see these type of threads.....why in HELL would you go to all the trouble of a V8 conversion and use stock exhaust manifolds...REGARDLESS what Ford car or truck they came from?:icon_surprised:

Well they were in the parts shed, they were perfect to setup an exhaust and get the truck running, the cost was minimum (probably salvaged them 25+ years ago), I have built many engines with stock exhaust... I am ok with less under hood heat and the missing 10-15hp from not using headers........ and after the truck tells me what it wants to be I may worry about headers and an exhaust system..... if I even keep it.... as I am notorious for building and selling. Oh yeah and less than $500 into this build, including the truck purchase but not the cold beverages consumed during assembly, so I am happy with the stockers... well so far :) :icon_cheers:

im goin with what i can find and not spend a outrageous amount of money. the v8 is gonna be alot more power just in itself over the 2.3 i got now. so im looking to get it in a running rather then build the "perfect" engine for over a year and have a bunch of stuff sitting in the garage.

Good thoughts, always room/time to upgrade later if you want......... :)
