I had a slight lifter tick but ever since bringing it home (within a 30 minute span on a trailer), it developed a loud clack(louder than the exhaust cut off under the cab). It runs like it always has though. I was wondering what would be the best plan for correcting it since I am getting it back on the road next month. Run some Seafoam through the oil or some kind of engine cleaning product (the engine restorer stuff)? Or is this more of a problem where I'd have to remove the head to clean/replace the lifters? Needs a head gasket anyway.

Seafoam it, then do a cheap-o oil change replacing a quart of the oil with ATF. Just run it for 15 to 20 minutes.

Then change the oil again with good oil and filter, and 1 quart of Lucas. I personally like Motorcraft 10W-30 CJ-4 spec diesel oil. After that, if the issue persists, it is time for a real oil pressure test.

I'll try that monday. I'll let you know if it works. Might be putting an oil gauge in the truck tomorrow.

What is the operating oil pressure?

Should be close to 40 PSI.
