No. It will make for some funky EGR issues and make it run poorly, but ultimately the EGR system should not have the ability to drastically effect the air/fuel mix.

have a gas smell when i get out of vehicle. new gas cap, checked for leaks in tank,fill connections and gas line. recently put a dpfe 15 sensor on and truck runs fine ,but that is all i have done lately.

Could be a lot of things. It's possible that the pump gasket has gone bad.

I've got the gas smell too. I've been waiting to investigate when I drop the tank to replace the front driver-side leaf spring hanger and my nearly rusted-out tank straps. Got all the parts, just need the time to get it done.
