I have a 2.8l with the dura-spark conversion. I have no emissions stuff left except for a cat. Well today I deceided to remove the rest of the wires in the engine bay. I removed all wires going to the computer on the passanger side. I also removed the oil pressure wire and coolant temp wire. Well now my external volatage reg does not work. I have three wires coming off the alt and going through the fire wall. I am also getting voltage to the votage reg. What on earth could I have cut for the volatage reg to stop working??

Actually, you didn't need to cut those wires to your gauges. I did the Duraspark conversion several years ago and I'm sitll using the oem water temp, voltage regulator and oil pressure gauge.

The white/black wire should go between the alternator and regulator and is also power to the electric choke. It may not go to the reg. though. (some do, some don't)
The gray/red wire should be ignition power to the Reg. That is what turns it on.
The orange/blue wire should go from the alternator to the regulator.
The yellow wire to the regulator should be battery power.

Thanks for the info. I think my problem was a poor ground from the regulator to the fender because of too much dirt. I did not disconect any of the wires you mentioned and even tried a new reg at one point with no good results.

Thanks for the response. I have an offey intake with only on hole for a temp sensor, so the stock sensor has been removed and replaced with a aftermarket gauge same for the stock oil pressure sender, so it is pointless to leave the sender wires hanging in the engine bay.
