Has anybody tried to put later model wiper arms on a first generation truck?

It would be nice to have the simpler hook in refills (that you don't have to swap parts to install) and to have arms that over center so I can clean the windshield without having to hold the wiper just off the windshield.

The problem you run into is that the earlier wiper arm converter transmissions have a different size spline (smaller, IIRC). You might be able to replace the converter transmissions to accept the larger splined arms, but it's not exactly a cost savings unless you pull some from a JY. It might be simpler to find an old Ford model that used the small splines and had full-open arms, but I have no idea what models that might be.

Just another one of those things to look for when walking around the ole JY...

It would be JY stuff at any rate.

Any idea when the changeover was and what the difference sizes are?

My truck has a lot of '88 stuff on it, wipers could be one of them.

I know my 1990's and my 2000's arms won't interchange (tried).

I don't recall what size the 93's were (had two of them).

Just looked at LMC Truck. They list arms for 83-85 as #50-8010 and 89-94 as 50-8011
nothing newer than that and a gap from 85-88 for some reason!
