hey guys i have a couple of questions just looking to pick some brains so to speak... anyway i am looking at putting a carburated 308 with 289 heads and a comp cam into my 98 ranger that came with a 4.0 and also doing a SAS on it will i have to change the fuel pump or anything becasue carbs do not take as much fuel pressure as fuel injection or what should i do about this issue or is it not an issue at all? also i would like to know if anyone knows what numbers i could expect to see out of this engine... not sure of the year but it was before smog pumps and what not. :icon_thumby:

Well it's been a couple of days and no answer. Yes, change the pump. As far as numbers for output, based on what you have given, anywhere from 150-450HP. Need specific info on things. Smog pumps came out in '66' in CA so that is of no help.

so what kind of pump should i use then?

I used a cheap Mr. Gasket pump available at most any parts store, something like $40.

Mee too. :icon_thumby: Try reading thru the "stickies" a the top of the thread list, most of your questions will be answered there.

Holley Blue with a regulator.....scored off ebay for $40.

Stock Ford mechanical fuel pump, but my steering box is offset some.

thanks guys for clearing that up cant wait to rip into this thing :headbang:
