My oil pan was delivered yesterday, it's the Fox body 460 pan. Is anyone familiar with installing this oil pan?

It comes with a new main cap bolt with threads on it to attach the pick up tube. What is the procedure for removing the current main cap bolt and installing the new one?

its simple, just take the old one out and install the new one, torque it to 60-70 ft lbs.

:icon_confused: Unscrew it, then screw the new one back on. Can't think of any other way to do it.:dunno:

So, just remove the old main cap bolt and replace it with the new one. Thanks guys... I wasnt sure if it was that simple... Ive never messed with main or rod bolts. Although I think the torque spec is a bit higher than 60-70 pounds, more around 95-105... Ill have to check for sure.

I've been using this this for reference...
Main bearing cap bolts, 60 -70 Ft.Lbs.

I just looked in Ford shop manual for the 428 specs and they have the 460 also.. They show 95-105 for the main caps.
Time to get torqued!

It's more than just head specs....but true, it is for small block.

Brain Fart for sure...this is what happens when I try to do something before my first pot of coffee.:icon_twisted:
