You can run a waterpump for a 79-85 HO 5.0 on your timing cover but the cooling leaves something to be desired as the coolant has to make an awkward turn to enter the coolant port in the transition from the pump to the timing cover. This is why Ford revised the pump and timing cover for the reverse rotation setup on the Stang/pickup/van motors in 1986.
