tk5 tranny..........what type of fluid??

I have an 85 b2. 2.8L v6 with Mazda tk5 tranny. 4x4. I've heard to use automatic fluid and I've also heard 80/90 gear oil. Which is right and how much do I put in? 2 auto parts stores said 2 quarts of 80/90 gear oil so that's what I did. I just want to make sure. Figured I would ask the experts

Yep you put in 80/90 weight or whatever it is. I think I used 85/90 RP when I rebuilt mine...

The transfer case and newer Mazda M5OD transmissions take ATF.

I'd just fill it through the filler hole until it comes out, then plug it up and run it around for a little while then pull the plug and check it again.
