Engine swap

Hello everyone I am new to the forum. I purchased a 1997 Ranger 4x4 with a blown engine. Considered a long block until I found a wrecked 2000 Explorer, will the two 4.0 engines interchange?

check the tech section theres specifics on OHV to SOHC engines. I hear most is plug and play though.

I just swapped a 97 explorer OHV 4.0 into my 96 (3.0) ranger. Plug and play for the most part. Had to build the trans harness due to the explorer 4.0 having an auto, and I wanted to run a manual.
