I have a 92 ranger and i want to make my headlights black or dark. I was wondering how to go about doing this. Also if anyone had any pictures of theirs done. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.

no one in their right mind would want to decrease their vision when driving at night.
obviously, this must be a swamp truck and you don't want to scare the 'gators when running at night. get some window tint film and some 3m adhesive spray at wal-mart. cut it to fit the inside of your lenses. remove the lenses and glue them in place. done.

You want to black out your headlights? Mind if I ask why? I kinda like being able to see at night. Are they glass or plastic?

as far as i know, this is 100% ILLEGAL in all 50 states, and all 10 canadian provinces, and all 3 canadian territories, aswell as the entirety of mexico

it is EXTREMELY dangerous, and i would not recommend it!

you are modifying and/or disabling DOT approved equipment and defeating safety features of the vehicle

if this is a show truck, then go to a tinting place and get them to tint them for you VHT nightshade could also be used, though it never looks perfect, and is very easy to put on too dark

I'm wondering if he means tinting the insides, like the black chrome ones you can buy.

Don't tint the inside you'll get more light through if you use vht nightshades on the outside...also get some brighter lights

I think triumph rider is talking about the light painting mod (which is still technically illegal) but much safer

you should home grow some!

The lights are for one of the swamp buggies that we use to get to the back of the property. Sorry I should have specified. I wanted to experiment with coloring the insides.

plastic lenses can be baked apart, then painted with any semi transparent plastic paint

Alright thanks. Sounds like to much of a pain in the ass, Ill skip that.

It doesn't sound bad there's a write up somewhere. You put oven to like 490 turn it off and drop your headlights In for like 5 mins on tin foil or something. Or maybe use a heat gun. I'd just spray the inside not the actual lenses.

I used the VHT nightshades on ym headlights. Also on my corner lenses, and my taillights. I cant say i have driven it yet, still waiting on box bolts, but the taillights are almost solid black, and are almost as bright as stock. The headlights were yellowed before, and i just sprayed over them, and they area little dimmer, but not to the point where u cant see. I would recommend some silvania silverstar bulbs after too.
