removing lifting blocks

What do I need to do to remove my lifting blocks? I can get under there and do it, but my issue is that the ranger sits in grass, no hard surface around to work on it anywhere, I might be able to get a large (and I mean large) shale rock under it for a jack, but thats all I got besides two jack stands I dont trust.
 
put some plywood under the jackstands, maybe 3/4" thick. that should spread the weight out and give you something to lie on while working.

i dont think i would trust shale for it, that sounds like it would easily break on you

you could also get some 2x4's and cut them up to rest the frame on. or, do you have any large firewood?
 
used to, but I do have 2 large 6x10x20" ash blocks, and I have no plywood, or a place that wont charge arm and leg for one.

How high does it need to be raised? and Im going to guess I am going to need standard U bolts to replace the ones Im removing, anybody got any they dont need?
