Problems getting the trany out

i have a 93 ranger 2.3L 5 OD 2wd
Myproblem is at the quick disconect on the slave cylinder the !@#$er wont budge its about 10deg outside the plastic tube is hard as a rock I have read in other post about disconecting the tube at the master cylinder ?
how bad is that what should I be carefull with and should i expect any problems with removing the trany that way? thanks for any help.

Go to NAPA and buy the quick disconnect tool. About 10 bucks and it will make life a hundred times easier.

One of these.

Make sure the white collar is all the way in all the way around. For some reason they don't like to go in all the way around making things frustrating.

Welcome to my world. I bought the damn tool and still couldnt get the white ring to budge. From the previous clutch replacement the white ring got shredded so I took it from the master cylinder and pulled the line down with the tranny. This is do-able but keep in mind you will have a hard time finding a replacement o-ring and roll pin to reconnect to the master cylinder. The o-ring is 5mm and the roll pin is metric but close to 9/64". I just used the old roll pin and its working so far. I also had to use 2 o-rings.

Also since the line is quite stiff but still flexible its a trick to maneuver it around the frame and such. I didnt pull the tranny all the way out but just slid it back to replace my clutch.

one thing you could do is just disconnect the master cylinder from the pedal and unbolt it from the firewall and take the line and master assembly along with the tranny together. Then you wont end up with the system even opened up.

well I spent over half the day trying to get things appart nothing worked ,so i gave in and went with TireIron idea and it worked my wifes Uncle came over and froze with me
but we got the whole thing down all together it was hard getting the wires to move at 5 deg so I got a hair dryer and put on them for a few min worked like a charm gettin the resiwire past all that tommarrow i`m going to work on the side and top bolts

yea, being that cold makes everything very hard and brittle, including yourself. Good luck with the rest of it.

I never thought of taking the master cylinder down with it all... I helped a friend put a new master cylinder in his 89 ranger and we had a pain putting it in so I thought this would be easier but I learned that taking the mater cylinder down would have been easier so enjoy the cold. Its cold here in central Iowa

I might add it was nice I bought a diesel heater and that was great working this winter...for future projects it will be worth the money. Its just hard working in tight spaces with a coat and sweatshirt on.

this is all being done outside in the weather yesterday we got almost an inch of ice I`m ready to bring the trany down when it drys up lol we almost had 10 inches of snow .
