Truck was hard to get out of park sometimes but figured it was a Ford trans. Ended up getting a ride home in a police cruiser because I couldn't get my truck in drive.

Well thats your problem right there! :icon_idea:

should have put the e-brake on and popped off the linkage and tried shifting by hand (had to on an aerostar once :D) but i guess i would have thought it might have been the transmission too not the cable. was it rubbing back and forth on something??

Looks like it was up against the exhaust. Cables and lots of heat don't mix.

That is how I moved it afterwards with another person, but since I would be under the truck I could not be driving too.

It rubs on the exhaust's y-pipe. I guess instead of routing the cable better, Ford thought just put a shroud and let it rub away! :icon_confused: Got them past the warranty period I guess. The replacement is going to do the exact same thing.
