Hi everyone!

I am a proud new ranger owner!

I am picking the truck up Monday. It is the V6, 4X4. It has a bunch of features - power windows, mirrors and everything.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on whether I should opt for the extended warranty or not. It is 1900 for 7 yr, 120000km comprehensive.

I have been researching extended warranties and whether or not they are worth it. Seems to be a mixed bag of opinions. I plan on having the truck for a long time, but the future is hard to predict.

Is the ranger prone to any specific problems that may make the warranty worth it? the 4 X 4 concerns me a bit because I hear that it can be expensive to fix if something goes wrong with it. Power windows aren't cheap either if a motor burns out.

Cant wait to see your guys thoughts!!!

Brad!

If you are getting the Ford Premium Care plan for 1900, that is worth it. It covers everything, as long as you keep up with your maintenance. Change your oil, flush your trans and coolant every 30,000 miles, and anything that goes wrong, Ford should fix.

i got the premium plan and i feel it is totally worth it... even if you don't use it... it is worth it weight in gold for the secure feeling that if something goes wrong at least it is covered

if it's a manual, yes, get it! the slaves go quite often... i've had my truck a year and a half now, and i've replaced the clutch twice, once because of a bad slave, the second for a faulty clutch (ford paid for it both times)

i've also had the transmission rebuilt, and the rear diff replaced... (again under warranty, covered by ford)

i should mention i DO wheel my truck, but i do NOT beat on it!
