A couple of years ago I had an issue with my ignition cutting out while my ranger was running. The circuit in the ignition would randomly decide to ignore the chip in my key for reasons it has yet to reveal. Anyway, I tried a $40 module that was recommended by other people who had this experience, but it was designed for use with a remote ignition starter and a car alarm. When I used it , every time I turned off the ignition, the horn would honk once. I removed the module and the ignition cutoff issue never occurred again.
Part of the installation process of this module was to turn the key to the accessory position for 30 seconds to reprogram the ignition circuitry. I believe this is what fixed my issue. This is a very simple fix for a potentially dangerous problem.
