first off, hello. im a mechanic for john deere and just bought my 2nd ranger. its a 98 slt with 4.0L and 5speed 4x4.

anyways i have no emissions in idaho and want to get rid of the cats and do a new exhaust. from the manifolds it comes to a 2 into 1 type flange, then bolts to the cats. does anyone make a pipe that will adapt to that and allow me to build a whole new exhaust? also the oxygen sensor after the cats, will this throw my computer haywire? i can weld in a bung and reinstall the sensor. what have you guys done with your exhaust?

has anyone seen this?

will that work?

also are the jba headers worth the money? who is running them on their 98-00 4.0L?

thanks,
eric

just because your state does not have emissions doesnt mean you can rip your emissions equipment off. its against FEDERAL law (read: big nasty fine) to disable any emissions equipment originally provided with your vehicle. on top of that there is no benefit to be had from removing your cat converters (no power gains, no sound gains other than making it buzz)....in fact, since your vehicle has a post-cat O2, it will trip a CEL.

in other words, please just leave the cats the way they are, they arent hurting anything.

JBA headers are decent, and will provide a small power gain.
