Chicks, Trucks & Calendars!!

Vanessa asked me today if I had ever made any TRS calendars. We made and sold some for 2003. They had Rangers and Bronco II's in them. One large photo for each month and then a page of all the photos in the back. I showed her one I had from '03.

Vanessa thinks I should do it again, but she thinks we should have girls with the trucks in the pics. Her and I are split. She thinks guys know a girl that will pose with their trucks. I think we'll have trouble coming up with enough good pics.

I'm creating a temporary forum for submissions. You can upload your pics as a attachments. Don't resize your digital camera pics. Keep them at the size your camera takes for making actual prints. If you shrink them and we have to enlarge them, they'll lose quality.

If we get enough good pics, we'll take them somewhere to have the calendars made. No, I'm not making these on my printer.

Good idea, Jim, and I bet you get enough pics to make a calendar. One suggestion, though. I think that a 2008 calendar would probably sell better than a 2003 one.

The shirts I get are JERZEES brand. That shirt my wife is wearing is actually a youth medium (10-12). As you can see, her chest makes it ride up to her belly button. The one she normally wears is a little bigger, but its an adult small. It's not as form fitting. She likes for all her clothes to fit her tight.

I don't know what to tell you about sizes, but I do have to order shirts and I can order you one in any color or size you want it and have it printed with the TRS logo.

I would actually like to see some type of spaghetti strap style tank for women. Not sure if the TRS logo would be too much for it or if I should just put TheRangerStation.com somewhere on it.

My wife has suggested shirts for women, but I haven't bothered because I didn't think there were enough women coming here to be interested.

I was under the impression the whole point was to be sexy in some manner. Someone's wife wanted to pose in firefighter pants and suspenders, right? My wife agreed to do something similar for a t-shirt and copy of the calendar. If its G-rated only, there shouldn't be ANY problem getting 12 girls to pose with an RBV.

Jim, you aught to specifically define the rules and prizes so everyone knows what to do and ask for.

When my current wife moved in she found a photo of me on the beach from about 1985. She asked "Who is that man and what have you done with his hair and muscles?"

3) We'll see what we get. If we have 12 good trucks with 12 good girls, we'll do a girl calendar. If we don't but have 12 good trucks without girls then we'll do a calendar without girls. This is why I'm telling people to submit pics with and without girls.

Our first goal will be a calendar with girls. Our back-up plan will be a calendar without. We have to remember that there's guys with nice trucks for the calendar but their girlfriends/wives may not feel comfortable posing for public pics.

I am pretty sure the point of the calendar is not to get rich. It is a chance for other members to show off what they are proud of, be it their vehicles, their better half's, or both.

The money that is paid for the calendars will be to cover the cost of having them made.

This forum is for anyone to post up pics they feel may be worthy of a calendar. Then they will be voted on and the top 12 will be chosen.

No reason to get upset, if you think you have a good photo, by all means post it!

I don't think I'm going to make very much money on this and I'm the one who has to put it together, get it printed and mail them. I don't recall making much profit on this the last time I did it but my interest in doing it was for the entertainment factor. These will hang in peoples house or garage. I don't see any great advertisement rewards in it.

The one and only time I did this we didn't get an overwhelming amount of entries and it was just trucks. We didn't ask for girls. That's why I don't expect very man pics with girls. We're lucky to get pics with just trucks.

What I specifically want is pictures of Rangers, Bronco II's and Explorers centerd in the photo with a decent setting/background.

If your girl wants to pose great. I don't care if she's in jeans, shorts, bathing suit, etc. Obviously from my rules post she has to be at least 18 and not nude.

As far as prizes, this is what I posted to you yesterday:

Arrabil, I'd like to send the contributors something in return but I'm afraid to say right now. Estimates on calendars are running $16 - $20 a piece. If I had to send out 12 free calendars to the contributors it would be $192 if they were $16.00 each. I can't mark the price up very much or they won't sell. If I add $2 to our cost I'd have to sell 96 calendars.

You know, the "trucks with girls" (or tools with girls or whatever) thing has been BEATEN TO DEATH by the auto repair industry (and quite a few others as well). It's trite. It's been done before thousands of times. I would suggest a generic photo contest. Get the nicest/most interesting/funniest/scariest photo involving a relevant topic to this board, whose image you have rights to. Maybe that's a truck. Maybe it's a deep mud pit in the middle of nowhere. Maybe it's a Chevy being dropped from a Sikorski at 2000 feet. Whatever. Just, please, something we haven't seen 50 billion times.

I would run whatever pictures you have that meet your criteria with whomever is in it--scientists, nobody, JohnnyO at the beach in a thong, girls, pets, whatever. If they meet your rules, run whatever people vote on. They're the ones buying them.

I mean, I don't see the point of getting all worked up over gals wanting to pose with trucks. Most of the guys I know don't give a shit what they look like. Most of the gals I know take a lot better care of themselves and make an attempt to look nice in public. They want to show off a little. I wouldn't hang up a calender with stringy thongs on it because my wife would tear it down and throw it at my head. But if it were a mix and didn't have suggestive poses as you might find in the ones MAKG is refering to--those aren't gals posing, but being posed. It's a difference if you see what I'm saying. A mix that was truck focused I could hang up in the garage no problem. What jspafford posted is tasteful and my wife might say, "Who's that?" and I would say So and so's wife. If it were Ms December trying to wrap her legs around your head through the picture my wife would say "What's that!?"

That's my dollar twenty five's worth on the subject.
