Wiper Blade Survey

The weather has been awful for the past few months, typical northeast winter, and I realized that my wipers are not really doing their job. Today we had rain, plain old rain, and I realized that the wipers are missing part of the windshield because they suck and not because of icing. I've tried winter blades, summer blades... I was curious if anyone has found any windshield wipers that they actually like (clear the windshield, even at highway speed). Thought it was a common enough situation a simple survey would do.

Best Ranger windshield wipers?
 
I like the rain-x wipers. They are expensive, but they work well in snow and rain. They also do not skip from high wind speeds lifting them off the windshield. Problem is they are 3x more expensive then regular wipers and only last about a year and a half.
 
I find I need to replace my wiper blades twice a year. I generally go with Teflon blades.

Have you checked the arm(s) to see if they need to be adjusted, or if the wiper has become detached (which did happen to me not too long ago).
 
i used to work at autozone and i've put every type of wiper blade on every type of car you can imagine.

from what i saw, the flex blades (they're $20-$30 apiece depending on who makes them and what size they are) are the best. rain-x and bosch make some as well as some others i'm sure. the more you spend, the better they'll work.

a "store brand" (at AZ, our store brand is duralast) usually will last 6 months to a year (if you're lucky). i've had rain-x blades that last over a year, plus they rainx on them that will get spread over the ws as you use them.
 
I have had Bosch Evolution's on my truck for 18 months now and finally are getting to the point of needing to be changed. $30 on blades that last 18 months or $10 on blades that last 6 months. It's up to you what you go with.

that anyone would TRY try to run wipers that long disturbs me...


I consider "gimic" blades to be just that, "gimic".

I generally use Anco blades. Bosch wipe a little better, but seem to wear out faster.

even manually applying rain-x the old fashioned way AND using rain-x washer fluid I think blades should be replaced every 6-9 months.
 
Dollarama, two dollars for a pair.I figured for that price if they last for a month I'm still winning. had them on for six months now and still working. Construction is crap but they work and worst comes to worst you can always put the rubbers into you're used to work well ones.
 
I'm not seeing any consensus, but it seems that most agree the more expensive blades (Rain-X, Bosch...) are the "better" blades. Also, that 6 months is a normal life expectancy for a wiper blade in climates that will see regular use (anywhere but Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Southern California). Avoiding loads of personal opinion, did I miss anything?
 
down south you may have to deal with the rubber drying out faster than up north due to the dryer climate.
 
I am not sure about the brand but the ones I like best are those soldby ,Cost-Co", They don't drive you carzy rubbing across the windshield and clean great.
 
I use Motorcraft Premium wiper blades...never had an issue with them and they last about a year.
 
It seems no matter the brand I get about a year out of them on a daily driven truck.

On my Ranger that stays inside alot and doesn't see snow they seem to last forever.
 
I use walmart off-brand flex blades. They usually work like new for close to 6 months, and holds together another 6+ months. I drive on the freeway to school every day, and my wipers are over a year old st this point, and still going. If I replace them soon, they will get put onto my truck.
 
I just replaced mine with Anco blades. they work a lot better than whatever I had on the truck before.
