i have a 1990 v6 ext ranger 5 speed standard with like 200 thousand miles on it im wanting to do a full motor rebuild and was curious on what people thought about if i bored the cylinders out to like .30 or .40 over and get bigger pistons in it what problems might this cause and what benifits would it give it has as 2.9L motor in it now with stock everything thanks

Why Dont you just swap a 4.0 or a 5.0 in, would seem to be alot easier than a rebuild.

Do they even make .0040 over pistons? And I guess my biggest question is why would you want to bore it any more than what is really needed?

im new to modifications but i got so many ideas floating around in my head and im not sure where to start i guess your right with a motor swap how hard would it be to find one and if i do would my original transmission work with it or would i have to get another specifically for that motor thanks a bunch for the help
