96 Dash Cluster what years fit

I have a 96 Ranger I bought with no dash. When I went to the salvage yard they said only 95, 96, and 97 would fit. At that time they had none with a tach from either a Ranger or Explorer.
Meanwhile I was searching ebay a there is one there that says fits 95 to 01.
Can anyone verify for me what years will actually fit.
 
The only reason that I could think of that a 98-01 cluster wouldnt fit is maybe the 95-97 cluster is mechanical and the 98-01 is electronic.. but this I dont know for sure. Other than that they are the same as far as I know.

Some one else will chime in.
