I can't find my original post from months ago and can't remember the answer. My 04 2wd will need ball joints. I went to Napa and they listed replacement arms for the uppers. I sure HOPE I can replace all 4 ball joints without replacing the upper arms.

On your truck you will need to replace the upper control arms. Thats just the way it's built. Depending on the setup (on mine the drivers side is the entire arm. on the passenger side just the bracket) you will be looking at $120-$180 for the upper joints(thats both sides). The lower joints can be pressed out of the control arm. They are very irritating but, with the right tools it can be done. the nice thing is you will have grease fittings now

On 98+ 2WD Rangers you can replace the ball joint separately. They do not have the same upper control arms as the 4WD and Edge Rangers do. Any parts store will list the upper ball joints for you.
