I was browsing the local classifieds online today and stumbled across this benchtop shear for sale. All the ad said was 30" handle throatless shear - $45.00. So I called the guy and set up a time to go look at it. I go to see what it is expecting it to be some princess auto junker. What I found instead was this beauty...which as I have come to learn from research sells for over $1100 new.
It is a Beverly Throatless Shear model B3. It will cut up to 3/16" mild steel.
It was a little dirty and dusty and a bit of light surface rust on it from sitting so long. I took it all apart tonight and cleaned it up and lubricated everything and bolted it to my spare work bench. It cuts 16ga sheet metal like a dream both straight and curves and also cuts through 3/16" pretty easily as well.
