step side frame hitch

I have an 01 edge stepside 4x4 . I want to get a frame hitch and apparently there is a difference between a stepside and a standard bed frame. that confuses me because I see many people saying you can swap beds if you want. Can anyone shed any light on what the frame difference is??? :icon_confused:

No frame difference at all....not too sure why the hitch would be different.

I guess I'll go talk to someone at a hitch place and see what they have to say. If anyone has tried to put a regular hitch on a stepside and it fit or did not fit let me know. Thanks Dennis. :icon_cheers:

there is no difference.
the frame is the same on all Rangers. stepside or styleside.

There is some confusion because people advertise them forsale as different products... but they are not.

Same frame on all of them fleet or stepside.

I ALSO happen to have a brand new U-haul hitch that I had mounted and then removed from my 98 stepside forsale in the classifieds section.

Ok thanks for the help. I have a 97 ranger I will be selling will the hitch from it fit ? How far back are the frames the same?
