ok i have a little problem but it is not a big deal.
when i fill the trucks tank to full it only shows half a tank on the gauge.and when it gets to E it only has 70 or so miles left of gas.

i came to the conclusion either the float arm sticks or the sender is partially shorted.i have been to parts houses and the dealership hear and the gas tank sending unit is no longer available :bawling: .

i bought this ranger to fix up and drive but i didn't know the parts would be no longer available. can anyone give me a hand

You like that eh?

Not only is my sender "dead" my trip meter sticks, can you say ****?:icon_hornsup:

Anyhow a used unit is NOT an option, I pulled out a used unit....worked for two days!:annoyed:

I would suggest a rebuild. There are sender places that rebuild the units.

Getting one professionally rebuilt is THE WAY TO GO. I tried the universal sending units(with gauge) they blow.:bawling:

Yeah they stopped making them a while ago, your best bet is to get it rebuilt like oilpatch said or swap in a newer gas tank with a different sending unit that is available.

BTW you can still get the Diesel fuel senders from Ford, when I checked for mine at Dealer, they said they had 'em for the Diesel model!!!! WTF dude!:icon_confused:

Why nobody makes after market fits-like-oem type senders is beyond me! 1st gen rangers are very popular....and now collectible!
