ok ive got this 1979 f150 4x4. i clear 33''s stock no problem, but i wanna lift it a little. it has 3'' blocks in the rear, idk if they are factory but the coilsprings up front were blue and i also dont know if they are factory. if i lift it what do i gotta do just put a bigger block in the rear and longer coils up front? whats the easiest, cheapest way to lift this truck? its a regular cab. also would i have to make my steering bar thing longer if i lift it or is it just on body lifts. sorry if i confused yall. thanks.

4in lift will be fine with just swapping coils shockks and leafs. but i dont reccomend running blocks i have no blocks and all spring and i like it a hellove lot better. but yea a 4in block and 4in lift coils and shocks will let you run 35's without cutting

lol ive read truck magazines, they have a 79 f150 stock and they cleared 33''s too with no lift. they put a 4'' lift to have more room for off roading on 35''s. i guarantee most 4x4 late 70''s fords can clear 33''s stock.

yes you are right they will fit but with lots of rubbing. that is a 4in lift with 33's which i think and most others looks the best and would be very capple offroad too. 35's on a 4in lift i think is unessary bigger than you can use and 33's will let the suspension flex fulley unlike the 35's which would limit some travel let alone bigger tire= more money

the last highboy was made in '77. you can spot a highboy from 4 blocks away because it will have a crossmember directly underneath the front bumper. 77 was the first year for front disc brakes, and the last year for the highboy, it had a divorced transfer case and a low-pinion front axle, the 78-79 f250 had high pinion front axles and married transfer cases..

and yes, highboys were 3/4 ton only..

my lift might be aftermarket then. will the leafs and coils out of 3/4 ton fit on a half ton and if they will will it give me more lift?

for one, your coils being BLUE is a REALLY BIG CLUE. and these 4x4's were actually quite low from the factory..but anyways moving on.

okay, here is what i would do if i were in your situation. now pay attention! i have owned over 20 73-79 ford trucks and broncos, both 2wd and 4wd. now the first question we have to awnser is what size tires do you want to run? that will dictate as to what coils you buy.

i would find a 78-79 3/4 ton front axle and take the outers off of it and put them on your half ton axle, swap the gears from the 3/4 ton into your half ton and then swap in a dana 60 rear, that way you can awnser questions in the parking lot about your coil sprung 3/4 ton:icon_thumby:

6'' coils with no body lift would run 35's...i wouldnt go any bigger cuz then you run into problems with the law, it turns into a toy and you sell it for a fraction of what you got into it, keeping it on 35's means you can still use it.. and as a general rule of them...i hate body lifts...on the other hand you already have a lift...you could just hack the fenders..

my buddys running 37''s on his f250 and he has no problems with the law. i guess were just a bunch of hillbillys around here. i got 33''s on it now and i honestly think i could clear 35''s without any more lift. id like to run 35''s or 37''s like my buddy.
