I love loud music. My friend gave me some old 10" subs that I still need a box for and to get an amp for. Thats not my problem. My problem is that right now when I try and turn my music up, my speakers will quit when they hit high pitched or very low bass. My friend told me that I might have the speakers hooked up wrong or have to speaker wires touching. I checked and didn't. Is my problem my speakers? They are very old.

Thanks

What type of head unit do you have? Do you have an amp hooked up to them? Your speakers may not be able to hold the power being sent to them when you blast it. Or you just have old speakes that are worn out.

I have no amp and my radio is from walmart (cheap) so they are probably just old speakers.

check the impedance (ohm load) of the speakers. should be between 3 and 5 ohms with left and right matching loads. use a multimeter. try using balance and fade to isolate the speaker(s) causing your clipping.
