Im putting in some K&N stuff, a flow master exhaust, what else is good to put in youre 2.9L Ranger?

sorry, but K&N are pointless. the reason the allow more air, is they dont filter as well. if your looking for horsepower, start with a tuner. if you want noise, get a hack saw and remove your muffler.
id say save your money. ive blown too much on my truck for stuff i dont need.

a 302...........seriously though....don't do the K&N stuff...use your money for other stuff like Dual exhausts (if that's your thing), or a good sound-system (in the cab....LOL).....if you need more pulling power--change the gearing in the rear end & put larger-flow injectors on the engine (but you'll drop the mpg's about 3 to 5 mpg's.....put a nice set of tires & rims on it...
Lift it some more...depending on the look you want....

The second I read this post, I was waiting for this reply.
Search on here some, the 2.9 has no balls and there's not much you can do about it. That's what I've got in mine and I'm just going to live with it until it dies or I offer my truck up as a premium member give-away.

A 4.0 is awesome, bolts right in. A little wiring and you have a ton of performance gain.
I'd rather have the 4.0 instead of a V-8. Plus it looks stock.

OK, seriously now.
Ryan, they are right in that it filters less air particles than your conventional paper filter. It does not add horsepower or torque, as they claim. EVEN IF IT DOES add hp, it is so negligible that you will definitely not notice it. A 3 hp gain hardly justifies a $150-300 purchase, in my eyes. If I wanted a faster ride, I will put that money into another car or add more to my mustang.
Because of its design, it sounds throaty-er because of the harmonics and the air coming in. It's just sound. I did, however, notice throttle response, but that is the only thing.
I've had K&N filters on my 4.0L Ranger, and my 5.0L. I currently have some no name brand on my 2nd Ranger, and it makes no difference either.
What the guys above are trying to say is this: the money would be better invested in something you will get enjoyment from, like a good radio or gears that will yield faster acceleration for a 2.9/3.0L dog.
