keep adding a quart at a time as you check the dipstick....with the engine off---usually the fluid will go above the maximum mark 1/2" or more.

When the engine is running in park---the fliud will show somewhere on the dipstick so you can add enough fluid in the transmission to get it to the max mark when the engine is warmed up.....

Did you happen to drain the trans when you took it out? Draining the pan will remove in the neighborhood of 5 to 6 qts. The converter usually holds at least 2.

This really sounds like a low fluid issue to me. You checked it at temp, with the engine running, truck level.

Thanks guys, thats what it was low in the transmission and tcase truck is running once again, thanks you adsm08 for all your help.
