Sup guys, i got a 2000 Ranger 4x4 3.0 V6 with torsion bar suspension. My buddy just did a solid axle swap on his blazer (yeah i know chevy but it looks nasty i do have to admit). His turned out pretty good but i'm really hoping for something i don't have to get all Dr. 90210 on the undercarriage of my truck. Does anyone have any info on putting a solid axle swap where torsion bar suspension was originally? Any help would be greatly appreciated, i want to lift my truck without screwing with the torsion bars. Thanks :)

do a leaf d30 or 44 setup.

or just a reg rad arm setup.

your truck has a nice beefy frame...no limits...fairly easy to do whatever...from big block swaps to d 60's.

You would need to hack out the IFS cross member to clear a solid axle.

that depends on what axle, lift hieght ,location.

He'd have to run disgusting amounts of lift to clear the pumpkin. I just measured my 2000 3.0L 4X4. The IFS cross member hangs roughly 9" below the rest of the chassis.

He'd need shit tons of lift and to have no plans of articulation or travel what so ever. I'm sure it could be done, but why half ass something like this?

I mean all of this with no disrespect, Bobby. :icon_cheers:

no offense taken, your right to say it needs to come off as in most situations, especially the way i like to set up will require removal of all the factory stuff with a custom(yet simple) k member fabbed to faciltate motor mount access ect.

but, you can fit a aft axle steering, full width 60 under there with minimal hacking...(rear part of lower control arm stuff ect)...and stay within a sane amount of lift.

get your tape out and look a lil closer.

its been done.

i always get told you have to cut up the ttb k member too to do sas and stay with a reasonable amount of lift....

and most of the time you do. :stop: but not always. i actually lowered my truck when i put a 60 in it. and it has an unmolested k member. but thats for a specific reason that will change eventually.

its all in what you want, and what you have to use.
