I recently took a brand new L5 subwoofer and kenwood 800w amp in trade for doing some interior work for a customer. Would it be possible to run these off of a stock stereo in a 2003 Honda Accord? I ask because it seems all of the kits out there to put a aftermarket headunit in a Accord make you lose a lot of the features that are on the stock interface, like dual climate control, 6 disc cd changer, etc. They also are fairly expensive, not to mention you still have to buy the HU after purchasing the kit.

I'm pretty much a newb to stereos, as I've never done anything beyond installing a headunit in a 92 Ranger. Any help would be appreciated.

You can do it. First option would be if there was a speaker level input on amp to hook up a set of speaker wires to that but you would loose those speakers. Second option I know of is one of these http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4/Scosche-SLC4.html?tp=2001 you would need another amp for the speakers that you pulled the speaker level input from but you could retain your stock head unit

You can do it, because its an 03 its new enough to check an see if there are any factory SUB OUTS on the back. If not then you will need to filter in the manner mentioned above. Or buy an external EQ.

I looked online and unfortunately the stereo doesn't have sub outs on the back. I was told I could run off of the rear speakers, and could do it without losing those speakers. It was also suggested to me by my cousin that I take the factory stereo to a place nearby that could actually add sub outs to it. I'll have to look into that, otherwise I'll run it off of the rear speakers.

Thanks for the help so far guys.
