quick question.... i know ive asked before... but i dont know if it was on the old forum, and teh search is being difficult....

cutting down a full width dana 44 axle from a 77 f-150, is it 3 inches from the long side to get it the correct size for the ranger?

Ive heard you can take so much off of the long side then you can use stock size shafts from the old broncos and it will be the correct width to go under a ranger... just need to make sure its 3 inches before i cut this thing.

Thanx

It's 6" out of the longside to be able to use an early Bronco (length) shaft.

That'll make it about an inch wider than the D28 axle (or half-inch narrower than the D35).

so that would work out to a quarter inch difference on each side compared to a 35?

ah.... found the link i was looking for....

Yup 6" off the long side gives you just the right size. Well at least my guess was under rather than over. Since its too late to be in the garage grinding the crap out of of the axle. So I'll start tomorrow afternoon.

Thanx for the help!

Thanx Jim. Wish i thought of a jig like that BEFORE i cut everything off hahaha. I wasn't that interested in making a jig because i dont have the origonal radius arms(well the ones i have are screwed from the guy who cut the threaded ends off with a torch)

I was thinking about making up some brackets and radius arms to be very similar to the 2008 F-250 4x4. I like that design better, easier to work with and figure out.

but the write up is a big help. Is there a way to get to that page from the tech page?
