Hello all! I am happy to have found a great site dedicated to the mighty Ford Ranger:headbang:
I recently purchased a 2000 ranger 4x4 xlt with 125000 miles. I'm crawling around changing fluids under the truck and got to the front differential and discovered the cover looks allmost impossible to remove because of a steel beam running accross the front.
I would like to peak inside to inspect and clean. How is this done? I know I could suck the fluid out of the fill hole and refill but that is not what I want to do. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Greg.

I don't think you can remove the front diff cover on those with the axle in the truck. The shop manual tells you so suck it out with a gun and refill the same way. If I remember correctly, the last time I had to replace one of these covers, I had to take the axle out to do it.

god luck to ya bud, the one thing about rangers is the front diffs aint meant to be user friendly I dont care what year you have. THe sooner you SAS the better off you will be lol. Until then read the tech library, Im pretty sure theres a writeup in there with some real good info for ya, otherwise :-) get to suckin. LOL
