1983-1997 Ford Ranger 4x4 / 1984-1990 Ford Bronco II

When choosing a suspension lift for the 1983-1997 Ford Ranger, you need to look at more than just price. Over the years different manufacturers have used (2) different methods for lowering the pivot bracket for the passenger side axle beam.

The first method is a drop plate that the factory bracket bolts to in order to lower it. The second method is a complete replacement bracket to lower the pivot point.

In the photo on the left, you'll see a drop bracket for the passenger beam pivot bracket. In the photo on the right, you'll see a longer replacement passenger beam pivot bracket.

In the photo above, you'll see where the passenger side pivot bracket was lowered with a drop plate. The design places part of the factory bracket close to the differential, which can damage the differential housing under hard suspension compression.

If you actually plan on taking your Ford Ranger, Bronco II, or Explorer off-road, you need to keep this in mind.
