From The Owner -

Its kind of a long story about my truck. I bought it new in 1993 and just used it for driving to work and towing our 23' house trailer. It needed more power for towing so first came the headers with  2.5-inch exhaust and a K&N filter off a 5.0 Mustang air charger system. After that I added tires, rims, etc.

I got to thinking about the 16 years that I had done different kinds of racing, and the last year of this was Score class 4 truck 4x4, in 1980.  I decided to spend a couple of years seeing what was out there that I could get into. I have owned a Scout, Jeep, Chevy truck and this Ranger in 4x4. I belonged to two different 4x4 clubs, in the 70s, and am going on runs with the local jeep club around here. I first bought all the Top Truck Challenge tapes and looked at what worked and what did not. then I talked to the 4x4 shops and bought hundreds of 4x4 magazines.

It took me 12 months to complete the build up because I wanted to do it right the first time. I noticed that the guys that did not brake equipment kept the center of gravity close to the ground. So I started with a 2-inch lift and then added two rancho 9000 shocks to each corner. I cut out the fenders 4-1/2 inches and put on 1979 Bronco flairs. I had the 31 spline axles made by Dutchmen Axle Co. in Oregon for the 8.8 differential and changed the gears to 4.56 with a Detroit Locker in the rear and a Lock Rite in the front. I did a lot of work on the rear end like stiffing the frame and the pumpkin. I built the front bumper for the Warn winch and then started on the motor. The motor was not tore down because it runs real strong with the equipment that's on it. The nitrous was put on for things like the hill pull, drags, and mud bog. I am making about 280 hp on the bottle.

I really believe that it would make a good showing for itself. I am now building a rear bumper that gives me 7-inches more clearance. The tires are only 33x12.5 because I have seen to much breakage with 35 tires on Dana 35 differentials. I was a mechanic for 35 years, and did all the work myself. I really would like to change the transmission over to a Mustang 6-speed, for faster shifting. but man the cost is unreal.
