Can anyone tell me how to do the zip tie trick on the throttle cable or post the link to a thread in the forums or the tech library. I can't find it anywhere.

Surely...

Move your seat all the way back and look at the top part of your gas petal. You'll need a flashlight for this. Now, move the gas petal up. (opposite direction of when you mash it down to accelerate) You'll see a cable with a spring on the outside part of the upper part of the gas petal. Pull the cable toward you.

Now, if there's a gap between the spring and the gas petal, this is where you'll want to put the zip-ties. What you're going to do is wrap the zip-ties tightly around the bare cable. This will take up the slack in the throttle cable. I was able to fit three zip-ties in mine.

Now that you've read this, go under your truck and take a looksie.

Actually it's better to take off the air duct and look inside the throttle body and have a friend push the pedal to the floor.

IF the throttle goes to the stop the only thing that'll change is the pedal position relative to the throttle.

This can be "useful" in gaining back pedal motion lost due to your floormat, etc...

i did the zip tie thing and was surprised at the difference. gave me back some throttle response and was simple to do.

This trick works, but dont jam the pedal down hard....after time it can wear at the cable and actually pop the bullet end off. Dont ask me how I know.....grandma was going too slow and I was in a bad mood. Hit the gas alittle too hard and I didnt make it home.

wow i just did this to my my 93, i found power that i didnt even know existed b/c i used to have to floor it to go anywhere.
its amazing!

Wow, I just put 2 pretty good sized zip ties on there and its a pretty noticeable difference thank for the tip guys

this tip is awesome! just two ties and i feel like i am driving a different truck! Unreal!

I've never heard of this. What exactly does the "zip-tie trick" do?

The throttle cable can become stretched and then you aren't really getting full throttle even when you floor it. Stacking some zip ties between the bead at the end of the cable and the gas pedal, if there is slack, will enable true WOT.
Crawl under the dash, lift UP on the gas pedal and pull OUT on the throttle cable. If you get some slack, then you need the throttle cable mod.
