i have a 85 ranger 2wd that was a carbed v6 auto.

i have to go in a 88 5.0 efi with harnees with computer and aod

should i take out the old computer from the original engine or work around it?

How should i go about some of the wiring the easy way?

And not quite sure how to hook up the linkage for the aod. anyone have any pics they could post i can see how it goes in. i know how the tv cable goes in just not the shifter

your help would be appreciated greatly thank you

Pull the original computer, install the ecu from the donor (im guessing its a mustang) in the original location, the donor harness should fit. There's only about 4 or 5 wires (iirc) on that harness that needs hooked up to run, a few more for gauges. Get the evtm for your year and the donor. You'll need 87+97 fuel tank & fuel rails from a ranger with the same wheelbase as yours, and the wiring harness going to the tank, running through a relay...
The tv cable, leave hooked up like it is in the donor, the shifter linkange you can take the stock linkage and with slight modification make it work (I did)...

I was gonna run a fuel cell and external pump. Motor and Trans came from different vehicles and evtm?

And my harness is the ford racing efi harness from late model resto

Electrical Vehicle Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM), since your running a standalone harness, you should have a wiring diagram with it. You'll need one for your truck...

Rangersvt do you have a pic of your linkage you made work? And what yoke can I buy that fits onto the ranger drive shaft. I have a mustang driveshaft I got for free that I was gonna lengthen but not sure if a new yoke is chaper
