I'd like to see everyone's winch set ups on their ranger. Been thinking about how to mount mine when it comes time. Options include; 1) mounting winch on front behind bumper, mounting it with a winch bumper, or using a 2" reciever front and rear and having the winch on a cradle. Help me choose.

Do a search on the bumper threads... There are dozens of pics of winch bumpers there. IMO I like the idea of putting 2" receivers fore and aft and mount the winch on a hitch bar. That way you can use the winch from both ends of the truck and when you aren't in need of it you can leave about 80 Lbs of unneeded weight at home in the garage.

2" receivers on both ends is always a good idea, however if you are using them for a winch you have to remember to mount the winch before you get stuck in the bottomless mud pit. It's no fun trying to carry an 80 pound winch through crotch deep mud and then trying to find the place to plug it into.

Does anyone make a front 2" receiver for the Ranger? I had the one on my Dodge 2500 made but it would be nice just to bolt one up.

Check Hidden Hitch they may have the receiver for the front.

Winch on a reciever KILLS your approach/depart angle..... Just saying.

This is about the only picture i could find of my winch mount.

i have a front hitch with a 9500 lb mile marker on it. the idea is great but it killed my approach angle. i leave mine up front all the time so if i do get stuck all i have to do is pull cable

Most of the ready made front receivers hang down too low. Most of the winch cradles for two inch receivers hang too low. That's why I make my own stuff.

Hows about two winches? I have a Warn 8274 for the front of mine and an M-8000 for the rear.

I have seen a few that could be used as a plow...like those bull bars that hang on the ground...lol

On my 99 Ranger I have a Reese front 2 inch receiver hitch and a portable winch receiver that I can use front or on my back 2 inch Reese 2 inch hitch. It mounts high enough on the front to stay out of the way.
