Will an engine from a 2012 go into a 2011?

We bought a rollover that is a 2012 4.0L V6 and now there's a theft recovery that is a 2011 4.0 L V6 but the salvage company states "ENGINE NO GOOD". Will the 2012 engine drop in there nicely? They're both Ranger 4x4 extended cabs, but one is an auto and one is a 5 speed manual.

TIA for any knowledge before we bid on the unit.

There were no 2012 rangers in North America, and as far as I know the T6 (international version of the ranger) never had the 4.0 so something is lost in translation here.

There were some 2012 Ranger sold, unsold 2011's :)

2001 to 2011/2 Rangers used the same 4.0l SOHC engine

The PATS(passive anti-theft system) Ford used in is the PCM(engine computer) and the Instrument Cluster, in 2004 and up Rangers

So swapping out the engine won't effect that
Same 4.0l SOHC engine came with Manual or Automatic you just need to swap between flexplate or flywheel, and possible starter motor, but I think they were the same

Starters are different, with both trucks or wont matter...use what you need.
