It's 101 degrees outside and this line between my house and the A/C unit has a bunch of frost on it. How the hell is that even possible???

Typically that would indicate the system is low on refrigerant.

When the high speed on our blower motor went out earlier this year ours did the same thing.

According to the internet, it looks like I'm low on freon. I had them put some in last year and they told me I might have a small leak somewhere.

The unit outside is 2-years old. No idea how old the coil is in the unit inside.

I wouldn't sweat it, it will quit leaking eventually on its own. Then as an added perk the line won't freeze up any more either.

yeah low freon.. I have also seen a stuck contactor that would not release on the outside unit causing that. the thermostat tells it to shut off and the inside unit obeys, but the outside unit just keeps on chugging away because it can't turn off..

but in light of your previous freon top off, I am going with the leak option

I shut the house AC off to thaw and turned on the ceiling fans and this portable unit. I sent a message to the AC guy.

My AC filter is wet as well.

Why do you keep encouraging him to let things leak out? First the differential. Now the A/C unit. Wow. With friends like you...

Check your condensate drain?

It's draining.

It's pussing me off. I had a new unit installed outside 2-years ago. Last spring it wasn't getting as cool as it should so they checked it and put more freon in it. It was working good but must have a freon leak somewhere.

I haven't heard back from the AC guy. It managed to not go over 82 in the house running all day. It's currently 91 outside and still 82 in the house.

If it makes you feel any better they set the a/c where I work at 80... after they leave the doors open as long as absolutely possible.
