Why does it state in normal driving not to put it in Overdrive

The only time I bother with the O/D control is to avoid hunting during hilly driving.

I have this problem with my 2007 4.0 Mustang. In OD, it hunts when I hit hills between 40 and 50. Car kind of stutters, as it can't make up it's mind if the clutch should be locked, or which gear it should be in. Used to have the same problem with my 3.0 Ranger, but after I swapped the rear gears from 3.73 to 4.10, it no longer happens. Much better drivability. Did the same with my LIGHTNING, swapped from 3.73 to 4.10. Much nicer to drive. Now I just need to do the Mustang, and I'll be set.
