Who's plowing snow this year? Let's see some pics.

These pics are old, but I figured if I'd share them anyway.

Didnt know you had a plow on that thing.

Not me. Closest thing to a plow truck I've had is the square body.. and I quickly sold the plow setup that was on the thing when I bought it.

Ford strongly discourages putting plows on the 19+ trucks... Frames are boxed... But too thin.. so I'm not gonna kill the bronco by trying to fit one.

Plowing is absolute hell on vehicles.

Haven't really needed to do any plowing yet, but when I do...

Never plowed with an RBV, but my 88 Bronco II has plow mounts on the frame. There was also some wiring that I never understood until I realized the weird brackets on the front were a plow mount. Previous owner said he thought the brackets were for a tow bar so I have no idea when it was used for plowing or what sort of plow it had (the mount design is not familiar to me). When I fix the thing, I’ve been thinking of building a plow assembly for it. Not sure if Meyer is still offering their “facelift” assemblies that were for restoring old Meyer assemblies, but one of those would be about perfect.

I’m not plowing this year, I thought about trying to get the mount back on the F-150 in case I got to use it this year, but that poor truck is in such sad shape anymore I’m not sure that would be a wise move. I have an old Meyer Classic plow set for it with an E-47 and an E-60 pump. I’ve rebuilt both pumps.

Plowing for anyone other than yourself can be a headache. When I was plowing I had a number of arguments about price with people. I had one lady who expected to get a 1,000’ long driveway plowed plus an extra blade width each side in the yard plus a turn around for $25. She kept telling me that she always paid $20 to have that done and when I started questioning, turns out the neighbor was doing it for beer money until his plow broke and he didn’t have the money to fix it. Go figure. I also had a number of people who never cleared their driveway all winter, just drove on it and packed it to ice call after a storm that dropped 8+” to come clear things. Sorry, a truck plow isn’t going to really fix that, you need a machine there buddy.

You can build a truck to handle the work and if you’re not dumb about things, it’s not super hard on a truck. Stock truck and beat on it? Yeah, it’s gonna break stuff. The hardest thing is all the salt the truck can be exposed to. I’ve actually considered building an entire truck specifically as a plow truck and build it so it can handle the entire experience plus be easier to wash salt off.

Also, unless it’s your property and you put flags in to mark the edges, you are probably going to plow something up sooner or later. Hopefully it’s just plowing up some yard and not something important… once everything is covered by that white blanket, everything starts to look the same…

I have a Kioti backhoe that I use for storms over 5-6" and to move snow banks and a John Deere lawn tractor with a 46" blade for little ones.

I don't have anything big enough to justify a plow. It's all snow blower and shovel.

We don't even get enough snow to have snowblower... nobody, and I mean seriously nobody owns a snowblower here. They take a minimum of like 2 or 3 inches before they will even pick up, we get several small 1/2" storms each season and once every 10 years get some ridiculous 6' or 8' pounding (last time it happened -2006-ish- you could hear the deer walking on the roof and all the trees had a ring 8-10' up where the deer & rabbits had just murdered the branches scrapping off all the bark. By the time one of those storms rolls around the snowblower wont start anymore and the one or two transplants who tried to keep em learn to just give up on em.

I love snowblowers. I can pick up a pile of broken ones in the summer and early fall, have them fixed and make some cash in Nov/Dec when it starts snowing.

I have a smaller one that is auger fed and self propelled... it'll cut through anything up to about a foot. It is very rare that I need to clear anything deeper than that. A lot of people get huge ones with tracks and all the stuff... in Rapid we just don't get that much snow, I can think of maybe two storms in the last 20 years that I could have used a machine that big. In the higher hills, that is not the case, they get a lot more snow. My little one works great but I didn't use it at all last year and this year has been a bust so far too. A quick shovel job is all I needed.

I've meant to do this for the last half dozen years at least lol. A guy can get a killer deal on a nice blower almost immediately after the black flies come out.. then just sit on it a few months and turn it over for at least 100% ROI.

Now that I've moved and the end of my driveway is right on a state route.. this year might be the year I actually do it.

Never saw a Ranger with a plow on it before - good on you.

Out here in Raton, northern New Mexico, the next day it usually all melts off on its own.

If not the neighbor with a plow on his 4 wheeler usually comes over and plows us out.

I'd be ashamed to show you how my spare is mounted in the bed - it involves chains and turnbuckles and the front bulkhead of the bed. For me, a redneck solution to get the spare out from under the vehicle.

I usually use my ‘63 ford 2000 with a back blade, was clearing the driveway this past weekend when it stopped running & initial inspection revealed distributor rotor doesn’t turn & compression disappeared. So Im guessing I somehow broke the camshaft, hopefully I didn’t damage pistons, bend valves or pushrods. I also have a front blade for the lawn deere but it hasnt been on in a few years, I always put the chains on it every fall so if I need to move a trailer it can. Heres the tractor, a couple of years ago.

After the snow we got this winter im looking at getting a plow for my ranger. Hurt my back shoveling and when i used the neighbors tractor to clear some it died on me. Rather be able to hop in a truck parked by my garage and clear a path before i pack it down driving my 1 ton over it

the 84 parts truck had a plow on it, framehorns were cracked and welded and welded some more.

then there was the salt damage.

I’ve plowed a few hours with a long bed f150 and a 4wheeler, prefer the 4 wheeler.
