Im sorry if this isnt the correct place for this post, but i was wondering what you guys would suggest? My truck is a 1989 Ranger STX 2.9L, 4x4 Standard. Atm has the stock sized tires so they are very small for me :S

Anyways, idk much about this stuff, but i want a bigger size tire that will actually do well in mudding/snow. I live in Canada so i wanna make it through the snow no prob while looking great doing it ;). I was thinking of doing soemthing a bit under 31"s because i dont have a lift on it yet, nor have i done anything to the gears etc.

I know im not giving you guys much to go off of, but i think you guys get the basic picture lol. Basically, i want my truck to look and perform in offroad conditions, without having rubbing and it messing up the gears too bad.

Also, where is the best place to buy tires and which ones would you guys suggest? I am asuming that buying online is a much better idea than paying 300 bucks a tire here? lol Thanks alot guys

Also, (if possible) i like how the wider tires look compared to just tall and skinny :P. if that makes the slightest sense whatsoever...

Also, what size is the biggest i can go with without any lift. Im working on getting a lift but it wont be a big one in the first place. Probably just something around 2-4". But 265/75R15 i can get? I dont want rubbing, thanks

if you want tall and skinny, probably. also, light weight aluminum wheels will help with the overall weight when going to large tires in any diameter.

I dont want tall and skinny, i like the look of the big and wide tires.

If i had an 89 ranger

"Daven",

If I had your situation, 89 Ranger and a 4 inch lift and wanted 31ish rubber, my first choice is the Super Swamper LTB in 31/11.5-15:

These tires are an assault on mud, snow and crap in general.

With four inches of lift I am not certain if you can mount these without fender trimming but my guess is that it would be close. On my 87 Ranger with 3 inches of lift I ran 30.5' X9.5" without touching the fenders but needed 5inches and fender triming for 32.5's. On the BII, I had 33 X 13.5's under it with a solid 4" suspension lift without triming, it rubbed a little and with bushwackers, NO RUB. I will always choose the function of the 15" wheel over the FLAIR of anything else.:D

I myself hate body lifts.

They sometimes will move around..especially if road crawling...

But its up to you.
