Where do post-1994(?) Rangers get WOT signal for compressor cut-out?

My credo
A properly suspensioned Ranger can be safely airborne for up to 4 seconds at a time! =:O
Does it just come from the PCM or ECM?

Figured out yanking Fuse #10 will disable my AC Compressor clutch-engagement, so I can run defrost, etc. without trying to drive a bad compressor, but in looking at older (pre-OBD-II?) wiring diagrams, there's an actual WOT sensor...?

Just curious... never know when I might have to pickup a rust-free "vintage" RBV from AZ/NV/SoCal...

The climate controls turn the compressor off and on, the PCM has the ability to interrupt the clutch circuit with the WOT relay.

You could just unplug the cycling switch.

That's just it, on my '99 there IS NO WOT relay, but from other threads I know that anything over 90% voltage from the TPS is considered "WOT" by the PCM.

Good point about the easy-access cycling switch.

1998 and older run the WOT relay, post 1998 moved the compressor functions to the PCM. The cycling switch (and an added high pressure switch) become inputs to the PCM, the WOT relay becomes an A/C clutch relay controlled by the PCM.

Unplugging the cycling switch has the same affect.

Or, you could just unplug the connector at the compressor clutch. Fold it back and zip-tie it so it can't get caught in the belt.
