i remember seeing this site in google searches, back when my dad had the plumbing company trucks, so it had to be in the early days of the site as i was taking care of them in the early 2k years. back then, all the forums were a different type of set up, what did they call it b2b or vbv, i cannot remember but they were basically light blue with a white area to type. no extra junk, not a lot of pictures, just reading. most sites were also run by children, it felt like because of all the petty comments and ganging up on new people. not being a fan of that type of place, i really never joined anything except e30tech.com, a bmw site that super cool and everyone was friendly, like here.
after the 15 e30s were sold and my yard was clear, i had my 98 mazda, single cab, standard transmission, 4 cylinder truck and the fuel gage never worked. i think i found on here someone talking about loosening the bed and tilting it up while the pulled the float/pump assembly and how easy it was. so i did the same thing but put a ch47 oil level float on the arm and now my gage worked. at 350k miles, or right around there, i needed a larger truck for car seats so i sold the mazda.
years later, and i mean like almost 2 years ago or so, my uncle got sick and had just bought this 04 single cab, step side, 5 speed ranger edge and needed to get rid of it. he thought he wasn;t going to make it and was trying to give it to me or my brother. i knew my brother was not going to take care of it and my uncle would almost definitely make it through his issues so i told him i would give him 3k for it and once he got better, if he wanted it back, he could just give me back the money.
he got better and got a new lariat hybrid maverick and i happily kept the ranger as i enjoyed driving, just like my old mazda.
oddly, i had not ever popped the hood so i assumed i had a 4 banger ranger, same as the mazda was but one day i was walking to my son and we were looking at the truck as it was idling and i commented on how much it sounded like a small v8 or a big v6 though i thought it was a 4 cylinder. so we popped the hood and to our surprise, we had a v6 truck!!
we would have found out at the oil change when we had to the wrong filters though, ha ha ha.
anyways, i had joined the forum finally and found it to be an almost identical feel as my long lost e30tech.com, like a family site.
so here i am. unable to provide any useful ranger stuff but i like to read along and ask questions about things. i am good at figuring stuff out in person but over the internet, not so good. luckily there are people here that are good at that though.
and i was wrong on the time frame. i got the truck in october 2021. so time flies while you are reading hte forums
