whats the easiest v-8 to swap into a 1993 4 cylinder ranger

Well I think after researching I am not going to put the 4.6 I have into the 93 ranger so my next question is what motor and trans should I be looking for to put into this truck? Basically the easiest v-8 to put in it what would it come out of engine and trans. mine is that 93 ranger 4 banger 5 speed.. let me know and as always thanks all

Explorer/Mountaineer 5.0, 94-95 Mustang HO 5.0, 88-93 T-Bird/Cougar 5.0. Take your pic, these all have the shorter FEAD that makes life easier in a Ranger swap.

No V8 is a direct swap, any of em take some ingenuity, some custom fabbin or special mounts.

my goal is mostly a little street a lot of strip.... if I go with a 5.0 out of a mustang what all do I need as far as motor mounts ect. is there a writew up on one of these some were I can go by. and yes I will put pics and details as I go as well. this was my dads truck he had while I was growing up and he passed it on to me we have combined to put 320,000 original miles on the truck then the trans finally went out on it so that is why I am now thinking this truck deserves some GLORY at the track and on the street and I want to restore it.

Consider a 2.3L factory turbocharged engine. It'll be easier than any V8 swap for you.

Let me ask this question what about if I just get a plain old 302 or 351 say and build it up a bit go with a carb and Distributor set up OLD SCHOOL wouldnt that make things real simple? Or is there more to it than that? I mean I dont mind dumping all the computer crap.

EFI is just as easy as a carb, but whatever you choose.
I was in a 4cyl Turbo (nagelandy from RPS), made about 250 horse, and went like a mofo. But I prefer the v8. (Remember RangerRaider from RPS? I was in has Vortec supercharged 4.0 the same day. That was quick, too)

Check your state emissions laws before going the carbed route. Some places you can, some you can't.

Mines carbed with MSD box and billet distributor

here in IL since it is a 1993 it doesnt have to go for for emisions any more : )

Unless you plan on working a SBF, you'll only be making 200-235hp depending on the engine. However, a 2.3L turbo will put you in the 250-260 range with some (cheap or free) playing around. This is why I say 2.3L for you. Its just something to consider. Also, its cheaper to make 350hp with that 2.3L than it is to do with a SBF. After that power level, then they both start to become expensive and boosting a v8 becomes the economical route.
