whats best for me?

i have a 00 ranger 3.0 4x4 and i want to put a explorer 5.0 in it. what year explorer would be best for a donor and what options would it need to have to make it 4wd.
My dad wants it bolt in
what aftermarket parts will be needed. i know about the oil filter relocate kit and efan.

It will not be a bolt-in swap. There will be some customization work you will have to do, and some wiring (blending of harnesses, etc.) And, of course, you may have to spend some time looking for the correct (small) parts.

That being said, it is not a difficult swap, only a little time consuming.

The results are worth it - just don't expect to compete it in a weekend.

I spent the better part of year on mine, working many (but not all) evenings and weekends. (I lost 2 - 3 months waiting for the engine to be built, and 3 months waiting for engine mounts.) Of course, knowing what I know now, the process would go much, much quicker!

Be patient, get as many parts as you can before you start the swap, and take detailed notes.
