if i were to do a regear on my own, what specialty tools would i have to have that wouldn't be in the average garage. i've looked at ringpinion.com and got a little confused on what is actually needed, and what would just be a convenience to have. thanks!

thanks for the help rngmstr. i did some more digging and found a complete parts list. parts are pretty pricey. i'm thinking i might be better off just having the shop do it.

It's also nice to have a press.

bearing puller
hydraulic press
micrometer or calipers
gear marking compound

One thing that no one esle mentioned......Patients and lots of it!

Inch pound torque wrench. Magnetic base & dial indicator. A 1 1/16 socket. 12 point 12mm socket. 6 point 8mm socket. A 3' breaker bar. A 3' x 2" x 1/4" flat stock with 2 holes drilled to match the flange bolts. A 6" dial indicator with depth gauge.
