What is the switch/sensor

that is behind the 'airbag' cover? This '96 has the airbag cover but no bag. Was thinking about making some storage in there. Want to know what the electrical thing is that is attached to the cover.

ah, i see there is a pic now...

id guess that it's a resistor or something to keep the airbag system happy without an airbag there. i wonder if it was that way from ford, or if the airbag popped and somebody put this "delete" setup in there. either way id just unhook the plug from the cover (leave it plugged in) and ball up the wiring somewhere out of your way.

Yes pictures do help. As far as I can tell this '96 did not come with an airbag. Looks pretty much setup though. When I do something, was planning to relocate, just not sure if it needed to be kept 'level' or something else.
