what in the world is this..bronco ii plus?

Yea, those are seen from time to time. Bronco II Plus. It's not a 1-off custom job, it was a conversion. IIRC, the new BII went from the factory to Centurion for the conversion, then they were shipped out to dealers. Sort of a factory option kind of thing I guess. Even more rare is the Sherrod conversion BIIs which had the top cut and a custom soft top.

Honestly, I would love to find a Plus or a Sherrod, or even just the Sherrod top. My roof just insists on rusting, no matter how many times I try to clean it up and paint it. It'd be nice to just chop it and get a soft top.

I would agree, I'd add either one to my collection. From what I understand, at least as of a few years ago, despite the plant that made the Sherrod editions burning down, the company is still in business and supposedly still has the information to be able to make new Sherrod soft tops. The problem is, the company absolutely refuses to make a new top unless you can prove that you have an original Sherrod BII.

I've worked for dealers, and like the factory REPSOL Honda CBR. you must prove with a VIN, and proof of ownership, and that the vehicle actually needs the REPSOL plastics/decals. . . Not to the dealer, but the dealer must submit it to Honda, who will then approve (1)set of replacement parts total-EVER for that vin

Chevy does the same with the new camaro editions with the better brakes, body pieces, suspension etc.

They did the same with the Xtreme s10
When i was service manager, I even remember someone trying to trade in an S10 Xtreme, but the vin didn't reflect that it was, and he insisted that it came from the dealer that way.

It's in attempts to prevent people pulling a mustang, and building s FAUX-BRA with factory parts.

But it is a Sherrod BII... hardly anybody knows what they are.

See I don't want the true Sherrod setup though. I'd rather do it more like a FSB, where there is still a hard-top section over the front seat, and the rag top would just cover the rear seat and cargo area.

That doesn't nullify whatever contract of exclusivity they had with ford 30 years ago

That's what I'm looking to do with my choptop.

I would think it probably has more to do with people cutting the tops off of their vehicles and suing them for selling a product that encourages them to make their vehicle more dangerous.

Whatever contract for exclusivity is pretty well null now. Ford isn't going to hack to the top off their unibody SUV's so they can put a soft top on and "steal" Sharrod's business.
